During our 3rd Anniversary stream last May, we have revealed a brand-new feature coming this fall – The Archives. With a couple of weeks await from the official launch of this feature, we are happy to present it to players in this news.
Year 4 will feature four major Chapters. Each Chapter introduces a new fantasy in the STAY ALIVE universe, bringing new characters with their own backstory, unique gameplay mechanics, progression, and set of cosmetics. Based on the roadmap and our objectives, these major content drops might also feature new game mechanics, technical updates, quality of life features, general game balancing, and bug fixes.
This year, we will be investing more effort reworking some of our “legacy” maps and characters that have been released in the early lifecycle of the game. With 3 years under our belt, we have learned a lot thanks to player’s feedback, player’s behavior, and gathering data every day. The Nightmare or “Freddy” will be our first focus for the Killer rework this year. We will also launch the map update initiative which consists of reworking targeted maps with revised level and art design to bring them up to date.
We are heavily invested in the future of STAY ALIVE and to do so, we need a solid infrastructure. We are planning on launching Dedicated Servers, which will improve connectivity to our game servers and allow a better handling of players disconnects during matches. We will continuously improve performance on all platforms, aiming to have a baseline of 60 FPS on PS4 and XB1 for Summer 2019. We will also address major game irritants: hitboxes and attack detection, pallet/window vaulting interactions, and latency and connection issues. Finally, we are revising our party creation system and friends management, which will allow for Survive with Friends groups to stay together game after game.
During Year 4, STAY ALIVE will be growing with the addition of The Archives – a new meta-feature that brings new challenges and rewards. In each of The Archives’ tomes, players will decide which path to take and what quests to complete. Furthermore, they will discover journal entries and cinematics expanding on the lore of our characters as well as other rewards, like blood points and charms. Only the most dedicated STAY ALIVE Lore-hunters will complete the increasingly challenging levels of each tome. Alongside The Archives comes The Rift, a new way to unlock even more cosmetics for your Survivors and Killers. By completing The Archives’ Quests and competing in trials, you'll work towards unlocking the many tiers within The Rift. Thematic cosmetics are up for grabs on a free track and a paid track is available for even more rewards. Be fast though, as The Rift is temporary and will eventually close! The development team is also continuing to rework the ranked season. The rank rework has an extended season that includes more ranks and rewards throughout your progression. We want the rank progression ladder to be inclusive and meaningful.
We are very pleased to say that STAY ALIVE has an expansion plan and will be released on new platforms. Currently, gamers can play STAY ALIVE on Steam, PS4 and XB1. As of 2019, gamers will be able to play STAY ALIVE on Switch, Mobile and XB1 Game Pass. We will also refresh existing languages and add news ones on consoles and PC.
